2024 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball updates the foundation set that came out nearly a year prior. It’s a lot later arriving than usual but other than that, things are largely the same as other recent High Number sets. Basically, rookies rule a lot of the checklist.
Although not traditionally a product for collectors chasing big hits, hobby boxes still promise either an autograph or memorabilia card.
With just 225 cards, the base set isn’t exactly a big one. In true update fashion, much of it is dedicated to rookies as well as veterans who suited up for new teams. Numbering continues on from where the previous 2024 Topps Heritage Baseball checklist left off.
Short prints are also in the mix, accounting for the final 25 cards (#701-725).
Parallels include:
The design plays off of 1975 Topps Baseball. The year actually plays into several parts of the product as a whole.
Variations continue with a handful of themes like Missing Signature that have the facsimile autograph on the front removed, Black and White Image, and standard Image Variations with different photos.
Chrome plays a major role in 2024 High Number, featuring cards from both series. Combining to land five per hobby box and one per value box, the checklist for these totals 625 cards. Base Chrome cards are numbered to 699 with additional parallels available in Black Border (/75), Gold Border (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
Although 2024 Topps Heritage Baseball got a separate Mini release mimicking the original 1975 set, here they are inserts. All 225 High Number base cards get shrunken down.
Real One Autographs anchor the signature content on the 2024 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball checklist. Using the same 1975-inspired design as the base set, these come with on-card signatures. Signers include rookies, veterans, and stars from the 1975 season.
Special Edition parallels are hand-numbered to 75 and use red ink for the autograph while Real One Reverse Autographs play with border colors.
Clubhouse Collection Relics return as the main source of memorabilia cards. Dual, triple, quad and autographed versions are part of the overall mix.
Flashback Autographed Relics look to the past with its player selection.
One-of-one Cut Signatures highlight not just baseball players big in 1975 but celebrities as well.
Giving a nod to his historic 1975 season in which he won both MVP and Rookie of the Year honors, 2024 Heritage High Number has the Fred Lynn Files. Big moments from the Red Sox star’s season are highlighted here.
1975 Retires pays tribute to Bob Gibson, Harmon Killebrew and Juan Marichal. The Hall of Fame trio all retired in 1975.
Other inserts include 1975 Topps Team Quads, Award Winners, Combo Cards, Now and Then, Rookie Performers and Perfectly Programmed, which draws from 1975 being a big year for personal computers.
