2023 Topps Chrome Baseball is back for another MLB season, providing new parallels and inserts done in a chromium finish.
Hobby boxes have one autograph and Hobby Jumbo boxes contain three autographs, which is a decrease for both compared to recent years.
The presale for 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball took place on June 28 at the Topps website.
In addition, the MVP Buyback promotion returns to offer store credit in exchange for base cards of the still-to-be-decided 2023 AL and NL MVPs.
Release Date: July 26, 2023
Hobby Configuration: 4 cards per pack, 24 packs per box
Veterans and rookies fill out the 220-card base set in 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball along with multiple Refractor parallels.
New additions this year include Purple Sonar Refractor (#/275), Blue Sonar Refractor (#/125) and Green Sonar Refractor (#/99).
The Retail-exclusive options consist of X-Fractor (10 per Monster Box), Sepia Refractor (two per Value Blaster) and Pink Refractor (two per Value Blaster).
2023 Topps Chrome Baseball Base Refractor Parallels Breakdown
Another debut is the Jumbo Hobby-only Sub-Zero FrozenFractor (1:602 packs), which is numbered out of "-5" copies.
Collectors can also uncover Super Short Print (1:16,938 packs) cards and Image Variations (1:497 packs) from the base set.
The image variations add a small Speckle Refractor rainbow.
From there, 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball supplies multiple inserts. Look for the 1988 Topps Baseball (1:6 packs), honoring the 35th anniversary, and the fiery Future Stars (1:16 packs), a favorite for young talent.
The insert lineup also sprinkles in several choices that have appeared in other releases, like Hidden Gems, Let's Go! (1:11,214 packs) and Topps Chrome Exposé (#/10 - 1:28,102 packs).
Exclusive to Hobby and Jumbo boxes, the Radiating Rookies (1:686 packs) edition is new for 2023.
Other debuts include TacoFractor (#/5 - 1:8,412 packs) cards with actual taco images on the card.
Topps Chrome Titans (1:12 packs), which makes the players seem larger than life.
Topps in Technicolor (1:24 packs) plays with the card's colorization, and the case-hit Ultraviolet All-Stars (1:686 packs) cards display blacklight-inspired designs from artist Mitch O'Connell.
As usual, the 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball checklist supplies plenty of autograph content.
The Rookie Chrome Autographs line acts as the main signature series with multiple parallels.
Multiple inserts come in limited signed versions, as well, including Topps in Technicolor Autographs (#'d) and Ultraviolet All-Stars Autographs (#'d).
Most of these also have low-numbered Refractor versions.
For memorabilia fans, Topps Chrome Authentics (1:575 packs) insert returns with case-hit relics. These MLB Authenticated cards are only in Hobby/Jumbo packs.
Marking the second year of the popular program, fans can participate in the 2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback promotion.
Those still wondering about the 2022 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback Promotion cards for Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt can chase the exclusive 2022 Topps Chrome MVP Autograph Buyback (#/22) stamped cards of the two MVPs.
There are also unsigned 2022 Topps Chrome Buybacks (1:21,136 packs). The stamped Refractor cards are numbered to 199 copies or less.
