PICK YOUR TEAM

2024 Topps Definitive Baseball doesn’t take its name lightly. Sure, there are plenty of super premium products each year now that also have an assortment of low-numbered autographs and memorabilia cards (not to mention the hefty price tags that come with them).

A couple of things set Definitive apart. First, you’re not just getting one or two cards per box. Here, it’s eight (six total autographs and autograph relics plus two memorabilia cards), all numbered to 50 or fewer. Topps has also added chase elements that put more meaning and stories behind some of the cards.

Outside of cut signatures, all autographs in 2024 Topps Definitive Baseball come on-card. Collectors aren’t going to find any stickers here, something that has seeped into some of the hobby’s top high-end lines over the past several years.

2024 Topps Definitive Baseball Checklist Overview: The Autographs

While Definitive does have a base set, it’s all autograph relics. Standard versions have no more than 50 copies. Parallels include:

  • Green – /25
  • Purple – /10
  • Jersey Button Red – 1/1
  • Laundry Tag Red – 1/1
  • Majestic Logo Red – 1/1
  • MLB Logo Red – 1/1
  • Team Logo Red – 1/1

Definitive Rookie Patch Autographs (/50) and Definitive Autograph Relics (/40) both come with oversized swatches. RPA cards also have Green (/25), Purple (/10) and Red (1/1) versions. Definitive Autograph Relics have similar colors but smaller quantities: Green (/10), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1).

Taking things even bigger are Definitive Ultra Patch Collection cards. These have pieces of numbers, nameplates and team logo patches. Put all the copies together and the entire patch can be formed like a puzzle.

Autograph Patch Book Collection (/5 or less) cards feature both current and retired stars.

One of the areas that Definitive is adding something extra this time is with its Autographed First Batting Glove cards. Numbered to 5, these have pieces of the batting gloves worn when players accomplished a significant “first” like hit or home run. Red parallels are one-of-ones.

Keeping with the theme of highlighting specific highlights and achievements is Definitive Moments Autograph Collection (/10). These have inscriptions that mention a specific moment.

Although they might not come across in the signature, highlights are in the photos for Defining Images Autograph Collection (/25 or less).

Protectors at the Plate Autographed Relics are unique for Topps baseball products in that they use pieces of game-used protective gear. That means pieces of things like shin guards and elbow pads instead of the more typical and often generic jerseys and pants. These have no more than five copies each.

Additional Autographs

Past, present and future stars can be found across Definitive Autograph Collection (/50 or less), Definitive Rookie Autographs (/50) and Legendary Autograph Collection (/25 or less).

For those looking for something a little more metal, there are Framed Autograph Collection and Framed Autograph Patch Collection cards. Base versions for both are numbered to 30 or fewer with Purple (/10) and Red (1/1) as the lone parallels.

Among the Famed Autographs is the first MLB card signed by Shohei Ohtani in both English and Kanji.

The 2024 Topps Definitive Baseball checklist has a handful of themes that come with autographs from more than one player including Dual Autograph Relic Collection (/30 or less), Dual Autograph Collection (/35 or less) and Definitive Trios Autographs (/25 or less).

Jumbo Relic Collection (/50) cards all have oversized pieces of game-used gear. Parallels are available in Blue (/30), Green (/15), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1).

Definitive Helmet Collection (/50 or less) use batting helmets as their source material. Parallels are Purple (/5) plus a quartet of unique one-of-ones: MLB Logo Red, MPH Red, Rawlings Authentic Tag Red (1/1) and Rawlings Authentic Logo Red (1/1).

Protectors at the Plate has relic-only version as well, once again with catcher’s and batter’s protective gear. These have 25 copies plus Green (/10), Purple (/10) and Red (1/1) parallels.

All other memorabilia cards on the 2024 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball checklist are one-of-ones including Definitive Nameplate Collection and Definitive Patch Collection. Definitive MLB Logo Patch can be found with one, two and three players.
